What I Wore To London Fashion Week AW16

London Fashion Week outfit

Fashion weeks are the time to show off your best style.

I’m not all about ‘peacocking’ (when you dress up in the most ridiculous flamboyant thing you own when your normal style is jeans and a t-shirt). I prefer to wear something that I would wear myself, not what I ‘need’ to wear. Having fun with fashion is important to me, so fashion week gives me an extra excuse to dress up ;)

I didn't take any photos of my other outfits, but this was by far my favourite! When you get complimented by a random stranger in the street, you know the outfit's a good 'un…I somehow fell into a bit of a French chic vibe with this outfit, and I loved every minute. I felt done up without trying too hard, with everything working so well together. I knew I wanted to wear my new ASOS shoes and New Look top together, but the main focus turned out to be my beret!

With a pop of colour from my beret and lurex socks, I kept the rest of the colour palette neutral, with my white Ukulele skirt and leather backpack. And my new trusty Miss Selfridge biker came out to play too- it feels like real leather without any animals being hurt.

Photos taken by the lovely Kristiana.

Inside London Fashion Week: Edeline Lee

London Fashion Week Edeline Lee presentation

Let's talk about going off the grid.

We all do. You hear people saying how they want to get away from technology and social media to take in what really matters, but few of us ever do that. This is what inspired Edeline Lee's Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. We were greeted with with a monochrome mirrored set filled with heaps of shredded paper, and models that couldn't look more Angelina Jolie if they tried.

The set really complimented the clothes, both in colour and style. The pieces were functional yet relaxed and oh so chic. Unstructured coats made out of virgin wool boucle were edged with 3D piping, and almost engulf that body like a blanket (who's seeing a lot of similarities to the Steventai collection, looks like wearing your duvet just got stylish). The 3D vibe continues onto t-shirts with oversized pockets paired with tailored pleated trousers.

The only hint of a silhouette in these more relaxed pieces were more piping around the waist, and belts on wrap coats. Even smock dresses were blown up to create an almost nightgown shape.

More delicate sophisticated pieces included a double gauze floral dress dotted with floral embroidery and fringing with a more structured slimmer silhouette. The wildest pieces were placed strategically at the back, so that the green lurex lame didn't engulf the more simple pieces. And all of these paired with black walking boots…can't get any cooler than that!

What did you think of this collection? Will you be adopting blanket styling, and who else is obsessed with that green lurex dress?!

Acting Update: Drama School and Jobs

Acting Update: Drama School and Jobs

Damn Georgie, back at it again with the videos (sorry, had to be done)!

I know I always start the year by saying that I'm going to keep on schedule. Well, I'm trying…I can never predict how busy I'm going to be, so when it comes to finding time to film videos, it's pretty much non existent! While I've been away from Youtube, I've had a lot of questions on my Drama School video about what I decided to do and what I'm doing now. So here's a video answering those questions!

Thanks for all those who have stuck with my Youtube, and as promised after this I pre-filmed a whole load of videos! No more excuses. Let me know what your views on drama school are and whether I should do an acting Q&A at some point to answer more questions!

Inside London Fashion Week: Steventai

LFW Steventai presentation

Granny chic is in, don't you know.

Believe me, I wasn't expecting it either. The people at Steventai had transformed part of the Elms Lester Painting Rooms into granny heaven, with rocking chairs, record players and needlework. They even had a genuine granny sporting the designs!

The collection 'Freaky Friday' was inspired by the phrase 'an old soul'- the idea that the steventai girl is wise beyond her years and is someone older trapped in a younger body. Bulky materials such as corduroy is frayed for a slightly undone, modern feel, while paired with lavender pleats and soft details. Silhouettes balloon out to wrap and engulf the body, almost like wrapping up in a warm duvet. Pearls and bow shirts were rife, with ruffled collars and cuffs to boot.

Last season's comfy loungewear continue on into AW16, with wool slouchy trousers layered under wrap jackets to protect from the elements, all while looking stylish. The only flare of the bold that I saw was a huge layered corduroy flower on the back of one of the jackets and even then, the model was not placed with it in full view to us. This is clearly a brand that leads you down through its layers...

"Two things you discover when you're older and wiser- you're not actually any wiser, and behind the wrinkles, you're not any older, either." Robert Brault

What do you think of the Steventai presentationwill you be rocking granny chic anytime soon?

What You Need To Be Watching This Week

The Aliens Premiere

It’s strange sometimes how blogging and acting mix.

During my nearly 3 years blogging, it’s been amazing to see both worlds collide and cross over in all shapes and sizes. From my blogging friends watching me acting, meeting people in both industries and to just blogging about acting, the lines really blur when it comes to all creative work. And some amazing opportunities have come from both lines of work, as I’ve recently discovered.

Since last year, I’ve been talking with Channel 4 about some of their creative opportunities that are coming up, and last week they invited me to the premiere and exclusive party for E4’s new comedy drama, The Aliens. As you can imagine, as an actor this is pretty much one of the best invites I could ever get!

The series, starring This Is England’s Michael Socha and Chewing Gum’s Michaela Coel, is set in a world where aliens have lived among humans for 40 years. Though they walk like us, talk like us and look like us, the aliens are not allowed to live with us. They’re forced to live behind a huge wall in a segregated community called Troy; a ramshackle and hedonistic ghetto where a criminal sub-culture thrives.

Lewis (Michael Socha) is a border guard who mans the checkpoint between Troy and the human side of the wall, but when he discovers that he is the world’s first half-alien, he finds himself drawn into a world of divided loyalties, gang wars and a search for his own identity. Lilyhot (Michaela Coel) is an enigmatic and alluring alien who is deeply embroiled in one of Troy’s criminal gangs. When Lewis crosses her path, her fate and his become inextricably entwined along with fellow alien Dominic (Jim Howick) as they find themselves caught up in gang turf wars, prison breakouts, hostage situations and a fur trade unlike any you’ve ever seen before…

The evening itself was pretty special. The screening was held at House of Vans under Waterloo station- the graffiti strewn tunnel entrance being the perfect setting for an alien revolution! Welcomed with drinks delivered by 'aliens' in shell suits, we took our seats for the screening of the first episode; believe me it will not disappoint! I don't think I've laughed so much in one hour alone, and the cast all shine bright as the talented bunch that they are.

As in all industries, networking is key...and when you end up sitting next to Holli Dempsey, who plays Lewis's sister Holly in the show, that's a pretty good start! It turns out that we know a lot of people in common, and she is pretty much my sister- a lot of people were asking if we were actually sisters during the night *ahem* can someone make this brilliant sister casting choice happen please?!

After the cast and creators Q&A hosted by the fab Matt Edmondson we were able to grab a bite to eat and a drink. As Holli took me round I was able to meet some amazing people including the creators of the show, some familiar faces from other shows such as Chewing Gum, and the wonderful cast. Special shoutout to Michaela Coel who I ended up chatting to for ages, and is one of the coolest, talented people I've ever met! It was a real shame that Ashley Walters wasn't there, but all in all the night was an absolute blast!

So make sure that you're watching #TheAliens on Tuesday 8th March at 9pm on E4! But if you happen to live in the US, why not tune in to Investigation Discovery at the same time, and you can watch me play Jennifer in Obsession: Dark Desires. If you watch either of them, let me know what you think!
